Brazil’s Petrobras Reaches Record and Nears 2 Million Barrels a Day

Brazil’s oil company Petrobras reached the record production of 1,912,733 barrels of oil in Brazil on Monday, October 23. The record improved 30.000 barrels on its previous record of 1,882,000 barrels achieved last May.

The record was built mainly from sustained onshore field production and from the going on line of three new wells, interconnected to the P-50 platform in the Albacora Leste, in the Campos Basin. The P-50 rig production has already reached 150,000 bpd.

Meanwhile, the connection of four other wells to the same platform is nearing completion. When they begin pumping in the next few weeks, the P-50’s production is expected to top its maximum capacity, programmed at 180,000 barrels a day.

The new record is considered by Petrobras a "decisive step" towards the goal of a daily production of two million barrels, which is forecasted for the end of the year.

By then two more rigs are schedule to go online in the Campos Basin: P-34, in the Jubarte field, which will occur in November, with a potential of 60.000 bpd and the Cidade do Rio de Janeiro FPSO, in the Espadarte field, slated for December, capable of producing up to 100,000 barrels per day
