In January of this year, Petrobras produced an average of 1,750,529 barrels daily in Brazil, nearly the same as in December, 2005. The company’s average daily domestic production of natural gas was 41,826,000 cubic meters, 1.5% less than in December.

Together, domestic petroleum and natural gas production rose 11.8% in January in comparison with January, 2005, for a daily average of 2.01 million barrels of oil equivalent (BOE). According to a note released by Petrobras, if the comparison were with December, 2005, production was "practically identical."

The total volume produced by the entire Petrobras system last month, including petroleum and gas production abroad, amounted to 2.26 million BOE per day, 9.9% more than in January, 2005. This brings production to the same level as in December, 2005.

The company’s overall average daily production of petroleum and gas abroad was 252.3 thousand BOE, 1.9% more than in December, 2005, mainly as a result of the increase in gas production in Argentina.
