Arafat Thanks Brazilian Representatives

The president of the National Palestinian Authority, Yasser Arafat, thanked Brazil’s federal representative Jamil Murad, in a letter to his cabinet, for the visit paid by four Brazilian representatives to Rammallah, in the West Bank, in April.

The parliamentarians, who met with Arafat at the occasion, travelled with the aim of manifesting solidarity to the Palestinian people.

“It is with great esteem that I write this letter to a dear brother to express my feelings of profound gratitude for the demonstration of support and fraternal solidarity to our people,” says the letter dated 30th of August, but disclosed yesterday by Murad’s spokesmen.

Murad, secretary general of the Arab-Brazilian Parliamentary League, lead the committee whose other members were representatives Nilson Mourão, Leonardo Mattos, and Vanessa Graziotin.

In the journey they were accompanied by Brazilian ambassador in Tel Aviv (Israel), Sérgio Eduardo Moreira Lima, and by the Palestinian ambassador in Brasília, Musa Amer Odeh.

As well as Arafat, the parliamentarians also met the Palestinian Prime Minister, Ahmed Qorei, and the president of the Palestinian Legislative Council, Rouhi Fatouh.

“We consider your solidary, humane and noble posture extremely valuable, as is that of all the friends in the Arab-Brazilian Parliamentary League.

“We are very proud of your important role in strengthening the Arab-Brazilian relationship, as well as the elevation of these relationships to the highest positions,” added Arafat in the text.
