Brazil and France Create Advanced Biology Consortium

Brazil Embrapa researchers Brazil's Embrapa (Agricultural Research Corporation) is starting a partnership with the French Agricultural Research Center for International Development (CIRAD). The two organizations will create the International Consortium of Advanced Biology (CIBA).

The consortium is going to manage studies developed by the Embrapa and the Tropical and Mediterranean Agronomy Research Hub (Agrópolis), headquartered in the city of Montpellier (France), and other institutions.

The CIBA letter of intentions should be signed today, September 26, by Embrapa president Silvio Crestana, and by the general director of the CIRAD, Gérard Matheron, in Brazilian capital Brasí­lia.

With the partnership medium and long term continuity is guaranteed to advanced biology research applied to fulfilling the expectations of farmers in the tropical, subtropical and Mediterranean world. T

The consortium will receive investment of US$ 3 million. In practice, with the signing of this document, CIRAD will become a mediator of the partnership between the Embrapa and Agrópolis.
