Brazil Expecting US$ 39 Billion Trade Surplus in 2007

Brazil exported US$ 2.607 billion last week, a daily average of US$ 521.4 million, 21.12% less than in the previous week. Imports grew 8.82%, totalling US$ 2.103 billion.

With this, the trade balance surplus (positive result) was US$ 504 million and adds up to US$ 1.053 billion in the seven working days of February.

This information was published in the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade bulletin about general trade balance figures between February 05 and 11 and disclosed today, February 12.

The trade balance surplus for the year is US$ 3.546 billion, with retraction of 7.82% over the same period last year. Exports grew 15.09% (reaching US$ 14.892 billion), but imports posted a lower acceleration (24.79%, reaching US$ 11.346 billion).

Market analysts estimate that the trade balance result for the end of the year should be US$ 39 billion at the end of 2007, according to a statement disclosed today by the Brazilian Central Bank.
