Gaddafi Meets Lula and Opens Lybia to Brazilian Builders and Petrobras

Libyan President Muammar al-Gaddafi, and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva met before the Africa – South America Summit, which began in Nigeria. Before the summit, Lula and Gaddafi had breakfast together, and discussed bilateral relations.

The acting president of the Brazilian Worker’s Party, Marco Aurélio Garcia, who up to the elections was Special Secretary for International Affairs, accompanied the meeting,

Garcua stated that the topics discussed covered the ideas that both presidents had to promote regional integration in their continents, and also included the increase in trade between both countries.

"The partnership with Libya should grow, with greater participation of Brazilian construction companies in Libyan works and new operations by (Brazilian oil company) Petrobras," explained Garcia.
