US and EU Mark Presence at Brazil’s Industrial Eco Fair

The 8th International Industrial Environment Fair (Fimai) starts today in São Paulo, in southeastern Brazil, The objective of the event is to present what is most modern and technological concerning company environment.

The fair includes products and services connected to the management of residues, to clean production, to recycling and to environmental law, among other matters.

The largest fair in the sector in Latin America, the event should attract 35,000 visitors among exhibitors, congress members and visitors. In the first edition of the event, in 1999, there were 5,000.

According to Julio Tocalino Neto, the director of magazine Meio Ambiente Industrial, the promoter of the event, the fair should generate approximately 480 million reais (US$ 225 million) in business.

International delegations should also show up at greater volumes this year, mainly from Germany and the United States. One of the reasons for the growth of the fair since 1999 is the fact that Brazilian companies are adapting themselves to environmental legislation and to more and more demanding certification in the international market.

Apart from the business roundtables, Fimai promotes three seminars, the International Industrial Environment Seminar, the Cempre Recycling Seminar and one specifically turned to the processing of cement.

Finally, the visitors will be able to participate in recycled paper and bio-jewel workshops. The event will be opened to the public at 2 pm at the White Pavilion of Expo Center Norte.
