Brazilian Gol Gets Nod as Aviation Week’s Best Performing Airline in the World

Brazilian Airline Gol was rated the world’s best performing airline in 2005 by Aviation Week & Space Technology (AWST). According to the magazine’s criteria, the Brazilian company scored 87 out of 99 possible points.

Gol’s performance was rated the best not only among companies in the same revenue category, between US$ 1 billion and US$ 4 billion, but also among the 70 companies surveyed overall by the American publication.

Aviation Week takes into account a company’s operating performance, financial health and asset utilization – Gol’s aircraft utilization is approximately 14 hours a day.

"We are pleased that our low-cost, low-fare business model has been acknowledged as the best among the world’s carriers and will continue to provide our customers with safe, high quality services," says Constantino de Oliveira Junior, President and CEO of Gol.

Gol is one of the most profitable and fastest growing airlines in the industry worldwide. Gol operates a simplified fleet with a single class of service. It also has one of the youngest and most modern fleets in the industry that results in low maintenance, fuel and training costs, with high aircraft utilization and efficiency ratios.

Gol currently offers over 500 daily flights to 50 airports in Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay. Gol growth plans include increasing frequencies in existing markets and adding service to additional markets in both Brazil and other high-traffic South American travel destinations. Gol shares are listed on the NYSE and the Bovespa.
