Campaign in Brazil Promotes Shoes as Special Gift

The Brazilian Association of Shoes and Artifacts Shopkeepers (Ablac), from the southern Brazilian state of Paraná, is going to expand the campaign "Shoes, a present that always pleases".

It was created in January last year with the aim of stimulating the consumer to choose shoes as gifts in festive dates such as Mothers’ Day, Fathers’ Day, Valentine’s Day and Christmas.

The actions involve about 2,000 stores and manufacturers from many Brazilian states. More factories and entrepreneurial entities are being invited to participate in the program and collaborate for the increase in sales of shoes, boots, tennis shoes and other models.

In April, China became the second main Brazilian supplier of shoes, overtaking Argentina. This information was published in magazine Revista Passarela.

In April, Brazilian purchases of Chinese shoes grew 79%, when compared to the same month in 2005, and reached US$ 617 million. China answered to 9.2% of the total of shoes imported by Brazil, whereas Argentina was responsible for 8.8%.
