Brazil Opens New Lines of Trade with Mexico and Italy

At a meeting this Monday, June 12, in the Itamaraty Palace, Brazil’s Foreign Relations Ministry, the chancellors of Brazil, Celso Amorim, and Mexico, Luis Ernesto Derbez, plan to discuss the two countries’ bilateral economic relations.

Other topics include cooperation in the sphere of disarmament, regional and cultural integration, the fight against human trafficking, and the coordination of joint actions in multilateral organizations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two chancellors will grant a collective interview, after which the Brazilian minister will offer a luncheon to his Mexican counterpart.

Derbez is on an official visit to Brazil at Amorim’s invitation. He is accompanied by the undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean, Jorge Chen Charpentier, and the head of the Economic Relations and International Cooperation division, Irma Gomez Cavazos.

Fashion

The Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex) is going to promote Brazilian fashion from the 19th to 21st of June in Milan, Italy.

The project is entitled "Brasil Oggi: Passione per lo Stile" or "Brazil Today: Passion for Style". The aim is to generate about US$ 1.5 million in business during the three days of the event and US$ 6 million in the following 12 months.

The Brazilian companies will show their products to the Italians in an exhibit and will participate in business roundtables with the Italian buyers, distributors and retailers. Each one of the Brazilian companies already has at least eight business meetings with importers.

Electronics

An analysis by the National Association of Manufacturers of Electronic Products of Brazil (Eletros) shows that sales in the sector increased by 7.61% in the first quarter of the year in the country in relation to the same period in 2005.

Sales were boosted by the picture and sound line, which grew 18%, and the white line, with an increase of 7.84%.
