In an official note issued on Friday, May 26, Brazilian state-onwed oil company Petrobras announced a new daily petroleum production record, amounting to 1,870,761 barrels, around 13 thousand barrels more than the previous record of 1,857,425, set on December 19, 2005.
This is the first daily production record achieved by the company this year. The new record surpasses the most recent average monthly production record of 1.795 million barrels per day, set in April of this year.
It is also 6.2% higher than this year’s average, through April, of 1.762 million barrels per day and 11% higher than last year’s average of 1.684 million barrels per day.
According to the note, the new record is the result of the "growing recovery of fields located in mature areas in the North and Northeast regions and the outstanding operational performance of the platforms in the Campos Basin, particularly the recently installed P-50 platform, which operates in the East Albacore field and contributed 75 thousand barrels to this result."
