Brazil’s New Luxurious Jet Has Internet and Can Fly Non Stop New York-London

Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer launched this Tuesday, May 2, a new executive jet, the Lineage 1000. The ultra-large airplane is the fourth executive jet by Embraer and is based on the platform of another jet made by the company, the Embraer 190.

The company is world leader in manufacturing commercial jets with up to 110 seats and is amongst the main exporting factories in Brazil.

The Lineage 1000 was launched during the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition, which is taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, up until Friday, May 5, in which Embraer is participating.

One of the main characteristics of the Lineage is the luxurious interior of the aircraft. The airplane is divided into five different areas, like sitting rooms, rooms for meals, meetings and rest, and may take up to 19 passengers.

"With abundant space, superior comfort, refined interior details and other conveniences, the Lineage 1000 will bring maximum comfort, performance and operational economy," said the vice-president for the Executive Aviation Market at the company, Luís Carlos Affonso.

The jet has a cabin with a total of 115.7 cubic meters. As well as the five private areas, it may have up to three lavatories and one shower. Other optional items are wireless technology and Internet access.

The total capacity of the baggage compartment is of 17.4 cubic meters. There is also a luggage compartment accessible during the flight period.

The aircraft is equipped with two CF 34-10E7 engines manufactured by General Electric (GE), with 18,500 pounds of thrust each. With eight passengers on board, the Lineage may fly 4,200 nautical miles, equivalent to 7,700 kilometers.

The aircraft may fly at 41,000 feet. The characteristics of the new jet, according to the company, make it possible to fly non-stop from London to New York, from Moscow to Tokyo or from Europe to the Middle East, for example.

Embraer, which produces aircraft in the city of São José dos Campos, has been on the market for 36 years. The company has offices and customer service bases in the United States, France, Portugal, China and Singapore. At the end of the first quarter of this year, the company had 17,100 employees and a firm order backlog of US$ 10.4 billion.

The company delivered 27 aircraft in the first three months of this year and should have delivered 145 up to the end of 2006. Of the total already delivered, 21 were commercial jets, four were executive jets and two were for the defense sector. In the year of 2007, the company plans to deliver 150 aircraft.
