South American Nations Invited to Be Part of Venezuela-Brazil Pipeline

The Brazilian Minister of Mines and Energy, Silas Rondeau, says that a technical report on the viability of the construction what is being called the Great Southern Gas Pipeline, linking Brazil, Argentina and Venezuela, should be ready by the end of August.

Rondeau pointed out that a document on the construction was signed at the November Mercosur summit leaving the door open for other South American nations to join the endeavor.

"We will invite other nations to be part of the project. We are talking about Bolivia, which has South America’s second biggest gas and oil reserves, along with Uruguay, Paraguay, Peru and Chile," said the minister.

"This is a South American integration project. We aim to integrate the energy sector through the use of natural gas. Everybody should be part of this."
