Brazil Will Help Guinea-Bissau Host Conference for Portuguese-Speaking Leaders

Brazil will provide assistance to the government of Guinea-Bissau, which, in July, will play host to the 6th Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP).

This decision was made Wednesday, March 22, at a meeting between the Brazilian Minister of Foreign Relations, Celso Amorim, and Guinea-Bissau’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Communities, Antônio Isaac Monteiro.

On Monday, March 20, Monteiro took part in the inauguration of the Portuguese Language Museum in the Estação da Luz in São Paulo.

"The museum is something fantastic. The project is immense, reflecting the Brazilian people’s creative capacity. We were anticipating a traditional museum, not this, and all were pleasantly surprised by what they saw," the African minister remarked.

The two ministers also talked about bilateral cooperation programs that are underway, such as initiatives in the areas of professional training, health, and agriculture.
