1.758 Million Barrels of Oil a Day. A New Record for Brazil’s Petrobras.

Brazil’s oil company Petrobras ended the month of February with an average daily petroleum production of 1.758 million barrels, a new monthly production record, 3 thousand barrels more than the previous record, which was set in June, 2005.

According to a note released by the Brazilian state-run enterprise, the new record exceeds last year’s daily average of 1.684 million barrels by 4.4% and is 15% superior to the average for February, 2005.

This performance is attributed to the "high operational efficiency" of the platforms located in the Campos Basin, off the coast of the states of Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo.

The Campos Basin is the country’s largest petroleum region. Its daily production amounted to 1.47 million barrels last month, nearly 85% of total domestic production.
