A Record: Brazil Exports US$ 118 Billion and Gets US$ 45 Billion Surplus

2005 Brazilian trade balance (difference between what the country bought and sold abroad) was the greatest ever registered in the country’s history.

The surplus reached US$ 44.764 billion. Exports totaled US$ 118.309 billion and imports, US$ 73.545 billion.

Exports, which also reached a record high, exceeded the estimates of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, and External Trade (US$ 117 billion).

Trade balance record number was caused especially by last month’s exports, which totaled US$ 10.897 billion, an also historic value for the month of December.

This information was released today by Brazil’s Ministry of Development, Industry and External Trade.
