Brazil’s Minister of Agriculture, Roberto Rodrigues, affirmed that he will negotiate with the Infraero (Brazilian Airport Infrastructure Enterprise) to install detectors of organic material in airports, to prevent the entry of bird flu virus in the country.
Rodrigues met today with the Minister of Development, Industry, and Foreign Trade, Luiz Fernando Furlan, and the country’s principal producers and exporters of chicken.
According to Rodrigues, the same measures should also be adopted in Brazilian ports.
"We decided on the creation of a group composed of government and private representatives, headed by the Ministry of Agriculture, to establish precisely this instrument of prevention and inspection on the matter of bird flu," the minister added.
The Infraero is a State enterprise, linked to the Ministry of Defense. It administers 66 airports, 81 flight navigation support units, and 32 cargo logistics terminals.
