Brazil Condemns London Terror Attack and Sends Condolence Message

Brazil’s Planalto Palace press office released the contents of a condolence message sent by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to the victims of today’s attack in London.

“Brazil expresses its harshest condemnation of this most recent, deplorable terrorist act,” the note says. The President also voices “solidarity with the suffering of the victims’ families.”

Lula is in Gleneagles, Scotland, where he is participating in the G8 Summit Meeting.

President Lula was scheduled to hold a private work session with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, but, according to the Planalto Palace press office, the meeting was postponed, because the British Prime Minister decided to return ahead of time to England to accompany the investigations personally.

The Brazilian President’s work agenda for today still includes meetings with the Japanese Prime Minister, Junichiro Koizumi, the German Chancellor, Gerhard Schroeder, and the Indian President, Abdul Kalan.
