Brazilians and Arabs Just Need a Few Adjustments, Says Minister

“Without knowing each another, we will be incapable of intensifying bi-regional cooperation,” said Brazil’s Minister of Development, Industry, and Foreign Trade, LuÀz Fernando Furlan, at the presentation of the final report of the Entrepreneurial Seminar, which ran parallel to the meetings of the South America – Arab Countries Summit.

Among the conclusions reached by South American and Arab entrepreneurs, according to the Minister, is the awareness that “progress is possible in economic and commercial integration between the regions, with the prospect of establishing free trade agreements like the one signed on Tuesday, May 10, between the Mercosur and the Gulf Cooperation Council.”

The most promising investment opportunities are in the sectors of construction, engineering, chemicals, fertilizers, food, information technology, and energy.

Furlan also spoke about the strengthening of tourism and the legal obstacles to partnerships.

“Contrary to what was believed, our systems are generally quite convergent and require only some adjustments and some effort to bring them into harmony, which can be carried out by the governments with cooperation from the private sector,” the Minister pointed out.

Over 1,200 enterpreneurs participated in the event, which began on Monday.
