Brazil and Cameroon Sign Cooperation Accords

Brazilian government signed yesterday cooperation agreements with the government of The Republic of Cameroon in the areas of health, education, and agriculture.

Brazil will transfer to Cameroon technology on the cacao cultivation, their most traditional agricultural practice; in the public health sector, cooperation will be in the combat of HIV and other epidemics, such as malaria; in education, the focus will be in the exchange of university professors and students.

The agreement signed between both countries’ Ministries of Education foresees exchange of history and African literature professors. In addition, it aims at establishing scientific, pedagogic, and cultural cooperation ties in the areas of archeology, psychology, philosophy, sociology, and anthropology.

Brazil will also receive Cameroon researchers and students, giving them graduation, post-graduation, and postdoctoral scholarships. Researchers will be for the pharmacy, information, architecture, literature, tourism, and agro-food areas. Current Cameroon literacy rate is 79%.
