US Steel Firms to Ask Duties on Brazil Be Revoked

The Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) will testify before the U.S. International Trade Commission’s (ITC) hearing on the five-year (“sunset”) reviews on hot-rolled steel products from Japan, Brazil and Russia.

The ITC can conduct a sunset review every five years to determine whether to terminate, suspend, or continue the duties.

There are 188 AD/CVD orders currently in place on various types of steel needed by U.S. manufacturers, many of which have been in place since the early 1990s.

Steel consuming company executives will testify that steel duties on hot-rolled steel are damaging steel consumers, are no longer needed and should now be revoked.

The hearing should start today at 9:30 AM at Main Hearing Room, on ITC Building (500 E Street SW) in Washington DC.

The Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) is the full-service trade association representing the US$ 41 billion metalforming industry of North America – the industry that creates precision metal products using stamping, fabricating and other value-added processes.

Its nearly 1,200 member companies include metal stampers, fabricators, spinners, slide formers and roll formers as well as suppliers of equipment, materials and services to the industry.
