Brazil’s Embraer Takes Its Wings to Aero India

Embraer, the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer, will participate for the third time at the Aero India, trade show in the aviation and defense sectors, which will take place from 9th to 13th of February in the Yelahanka Air Base, in Bangalore in India.

In the company’s evaluation, the event is one of the most prestigious in the general defense and aviation segments, “being an adequate place to promote Embraer’s main defense and aviation programs”.

Amongst the main products mentioned by the company are the executive jet Legacy and the airplanes for aerial, maritime and terrestrial vigilance, based on the platform of the jet ERJ 145, which are used in the System for the Vigilance of the Amazon (Sivam) and were recently selected, through an international tender, to integrate the Aerial Common Sensor (ACS), a vigilance program of the United States Navy and Army.

The products will also include a family of regional jets ERJ 145, which counts on aircrafts capable of transporting between 37 and 50 passengers; and the family of Embraer 170/190, four models of jets that may carry between 70 and 118 people.

Embraer delivered last year 148 aircrafts, out of which 134 were commercial jets, 13 executive planes and one for the defense sector. In 2003, 101 units were delivered.

In the defense area, the company only discloses the deliveries of aircrafts for the transportation of officials, not of combat and surveillance planes.

Amongst the commercial jets, the company delivered one ERJ 135, for 37 passengers, 87 ERJ 145, with 50 seats, and 46 Embraer 170, which can carry up to 78 people.

In the executive aviation area, the company delivered 13 Legacy jets. For the defense sector, one EMB 145 was delivered, airship based on the ERJ 145.

During the 4th quarter of 2004, Embraer delivered 42 airplanes, where 34 were commercial jets and 8 were of the executive kind. For this year, the company forecasts the delivery of 145 aircrafts, and the same number is estimated for 2006.
