Up-and-coming Brazilian Singer Lili Rocha Is a Rocking Raising Star

Lili RochaLili Rocha’s singing career began in the streets and squares of her small native town of Porto Seguro in Brazil’s northeastern state of Bahia, where she showcased her talent to the local people.  Her great passion for music eventually led her to win the Gabriela talent show in Ilhéus.

It didn’t take long before the singer started performing in several countries across Europe, including Portugal, Italy, and Switzerland.  As she puts it, she fell in love with the essence of Europe and ended up making a permanent move to Switzerland.

Lili Rocha’s five released albums, containing songs in Portuguese, Spanish and Italian, and English helped his adult contemporary/soft rock songstress build a dedicated fan base.

She promoted her first album, Me Deixa Sonhar (2003), back in Brazil, appearing in numerous TV shows and live performances throughout São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The CD has only modest success in her native Brazil but sold over 80,000 records in Italy.

Recomeçar (2004), her second album, was released in Europe and went gold in Italy with 40,000 copies sold.

Shortly after the release of her third studio album, Amuleto (2007), Lili Rocha embarked on the Amuleto concert tour, performing for thousands of fans and traveling to many major cities throughout Italy and Spain.

The spirit of over eighty shows along the tour was captured and compiled as Lili’s first live album, Lili Rocha Live (2009). This album, released as both CD and DVD, was also a  hit, going gold in Italy and showcasing her true talent as a live performer.

Rocha released her English debut album, Lili Rocha Rocks!,  last summer.  Her remix of “I’m Alright” features world-renowned producers Mike Cruz, Timmy Loop and Steven Wolf (who has worked with the likes of Pink, Celine Dion and Ke$ha, respectively).

Shortly after its release, “I’m Alright” jumped 16 spots in three weeks to land a 27th place on the Billboard Dance Club chart.

Rocha is already making her mark in the U.S., having been featured on leading Latino radio station 93.1 AMOR in New York and on Univision’s popular LAZante television show in L.A.

Fresh off a U.S. Tour that featured shows in Miami, New York and Los Angeles, Rocha is set to begin recording her next album in the U.S. this summer.

Though Rocha has certainly explored many cultural avenues when it comes to her music career, she always remains close to her Brazilian roots.

In the future, she says, she would love to return to her native country to perform for her Brazilian fans.  Though Lili has had great success in many parts of the world, she will certainly never forget where it all started.
