In Brazil, Man and Two Women Confess to Cannibalism and Selling Human Meat Pies

Murder suspects According to police chief Wesley Fernando, from Garanhuns, in the northeastern state of Brazil, Isabel Cristina Pires da Silveira, 51, has  confessed to acts of cannibalism and that some of the snack food she sold on the streets was made with human flesh of two women she and her husband Jorge Beltrão Negromonte da Silveira, 51, had killed.

There is a third woman involved, Bruna Cristina Oliveira da Silva, 25, Negromonte’s lover. The three of them lived together in the same house.

Police say the suspects claimed “a voice” had told them to kill. The three of them have been arrested on suspicion of having murdered at least two women, whose remains were found in their house’s backyard.

Fernando explained how this was done: “After they quartered the body, the meat was shredded and then frozen. They also ate the body parts themselves and gave the same food to a small child who lived with them.

“According to Isabel, the favorite part was the heart of the victims. But they ended up using every thing, including the liver and muscles of the legs that were boiled and eaten in a kind of macabre ritual.”

Thighs, buttocks and arms of victims were cooked in salted water, frozen and slowly consumed by the family. The two victims were killed in the last two months.

After Isabel had confessed the crimes and cooperated with police, the other two defendants ended up admitting their participation in the murders. The trio has been taken to jail while they wait for  trial. They should be charged with  murder, kidnapping, hiding bodies, fraud and offenses against public health

The gruesome trio belonged to the Cartel sect, which has as one of its goals to combat the world’s increasing population. They call themselves anti-capitalist and anti-Semitic and preach the murder of women who have more than one child and therefore a “cursed womb” and eat their flesh as a means of purification.

The police suspect that the murderers might be operating for a long time and up to 8 deaths might be attributed to them, including two in the states of Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte.

The story that united the three villains in one of the most barbarous crimes ever recorded in the small town of Garanhuns, population 130,000, began five years ago when Jorge met Bruna.

Instead of shaking his marriage with Elizabeth, the meeting ended up strengthening the relationship between the three. They seem to have started their cannibalism practice soon after meeting and then joining the Cartel group.

Shocked and revolted by the cruelty of their acts, the neighbors looted and torched the house where the suspects lived. Some commented they always found it that the three acted strangely, but they never suspected how sick their behavior was.

Others also admitted they had bought the snack foods sold by the trio and are appalled now that they might have eaten human flesh.
