World of High Decoration Gathers in Brazil for Abimad Fair

Brazilian furniture Abimad, the Brazilian High-End Furniture Manufacturers Association  and Apex-Brazil, the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency are going to bring 38 importers from 22 countries to participate in the Abimad Fair, to take place from February 24th to 27th, in São Paulo.

Among the countries invited are the United States, Mexico, India, Greece, England, Spain, United Arab Emirates and South Africa. They are all going to participate in the International Business Roundtables on the 24th. In the last edition, the meetings generated US$ 2.516 million in sales, with around US$ 13 million in business generated due to the contacts made at the fair.

The Abimad fair whose theme is “The high-decoration world also has its stage,” should bring together 156 exhibitors makers of bedroom, kitchen and sitting room furniture, lighting fixtures, carpets and decorations, among others. According to the organization, five new associates are going to exhibit in this edition, which covers an area of 30,000 square meters (323,000 square feet).

“The global crisis seems to have scared the Brazilian audience away a little and the scenario for 2010 is one of good perspectives,” said José Lúcio Aragão, the Abimad fair coordinator, in a press statement.

According to the president of Abimad, Fernando Flôres, February is a strategic month for the replacement of Christmas stocks. With each year, the fair makes itself more important as a reference for tendencies and as a window of national visibility.

Among the novelties for the fair, apart from the release of sector tendencies, visitors and retailers will have access to hairdresser and masseuse services, kiosks with coconut water, fizzy drinks and ice cream.
