Software Firm and Taiwan Memory Maker Invest in Brazil

Brazilian software company Datasul has acquired Informenge, a management software solutions provider for health care, such as health care insurance companies, hospitals, medical offices and pharmacies.

Datasul is a Brazilian multinational, which offers software integrated solutions to corporate clients. Informenge is also a Brazilian company.

In the last 12 months, Informenge has attained approximately US$ 2.5 million in gross revenues. It also has a current portfolio of clients composed of more than 50 companies and 100 active accounts.

The value of the acquisition of 100% of its shares will be funded by Datasul’s cash position and will amount to 5 times the value of the adjusted Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization (EBITDA) of Informenge for the current exercise ending December the 31st, 2006, as per contractual terms.

According to Jorge Steffens, Datasul’s CEO, "Since we are aiming at complementary offerings, the Informenge solutions will evolve and the company will become a Datasul Business Unit. We are acquiring a company that complements our current offering to the health industry and strengthens our market footprint.

"It comes from a natural sequence of events that commenced back in 2005, when we acquired a vertical for the health segment. As of now, we provide a broader and more complete solution for hospitals, laboratories and pharmacies and hence attain leadership in the sector of health care insurance companies."

Renato Friedrich, CFO and IRD of Datasul, points out that, "This acquisition reinforces our market positioning in an important and growing segment. Datasul now manages approximately 7 million lives with Datasul Health and Informenge software solutions."
