Brazil’s participation in the Big 5 Show, the Middle East’s biggest trade show for the construction industry, in Dubai, attracted the attention of the event organizers.
"In the last three editions of the fair, Brazilian companies have been increasingly aggressive in the Arab Gulf region," said Bernard Walsh, director of Dmg World Media, the organizers of the trade show.
Organized by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and by the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex), the Brazilian stand features 30 companies and organizations. According to Walsh, despite their increased participation in the fair, Brazilian companies lack a steadier presence in the Arab market.
Walsh also highlighted the creativity of the Brazilian stand. "The Brazilian display is fantastic. They are doing a good job," he said. The stand has two floors, and includes bathrooms built using exhibitors’ material on its sides.
According to Walsh, Brazil has a great chance on the Gulf market. "Construction projects emerge in Dubai and in the Gulf almost every day, and I noticed that most Brazilian companies are in the stone and ceramics industries, which are of interest to the market," he claimed.
Trade Show
The Big 5 features 2,900 exhibitors from 55 countries. According to the organizers’ estimates, more than 40,000 visitors are expected, half of them from outside the United Arab Emirates, coming from countries such as Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon, Pakistan and others.
The presence of Italian and German companies in this edition amounts to 628 companies. Several countries have increased their participation in the event. "Many have reserved a larger booth space for next year," Walsh said. This is the case with Brazil. A bigger space for 2007 has already been booked by the Arab Chamber and Apex.
The main industries present in the trade show are building material, air conditioning, refrigerators, marble, stones, and ceramics. The show began on Saturday, October 28, and ends today November 1st.
