Brazil Has Already US$ 2.1 Billion Surplus for This Month

Exports in Brazil reached US$ 3.011 billion last week and imports amounted to US$ 1.989 billion, which resulted in a trade surplus of US$ 1.022 billion. The figures were released yesterday, August 21, by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.

During the month of August, external sales up to the third week reached US$ 8.544 billion. External purchases added up to US$ 5.426 billion, resulting in a surplus of US$ 2.128 billion.

In the category of semi-manufactured goods, the main products shipped were crude sugar, semi-manufactured iron and steel products and crude aluminum.

Within manufactured goods, most sold products were transmitting and receiving devices, petrol and fuel oils. The main basic products exported were tobacco, soy chaff and beef.

Last year, Brazilian exports reached US$ 83.076 billion, imports reached US$ 54.779 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of US$ 28.297 billion.
