Despite Losing the World Cup Brazil Is Still Number One in Soccer

Despite it bad performance in the recent World Cup in Germany, Brazil continues the number one team in the ranking of FIFA, the International Football Federation.

FIFA has just released its list of the world’s 50 best soccer teams with Brazil still atop the standings while Mexico moved up to 16th in the world.

The top 15 places remain the same from last month, with Brazil number one followed by Italy, Argentina, France and England. The Netherlands is number six, followed by Spain, Portugal, Germany and the Czech Republic.

With only 24 so-called "A" international matches in the past month, there were few changes in the top part of the rankings. However, Mexico moved up two places to 16th in the world, the top team from the North Central American and Caribbean region. The United States dropped seven places to 23 in the world.

Norway returned to the top 50, moving up three places to 49th while Guatemala rose three places to 50th in the world.
