Brazil Intent on Doing Without Bolivia’s Gas in 2 Years

Brazil is going to produce, up to 2008, practically the same quantity of natural gas it currently imports from Bolivia. The information was given by the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Lula offered the new information, today, May 22, on the radio show ‘Café com o Presidente’, which means ‘Breakfast with the President’ in Portuguese.

Lula also said that the government is going to test alcohol thermoelectric stations.

"It’ll be an extraordinary revolution as it will increase the alcohol production. We already are exporting a lot, but now we’ll consume more internally and this will also give us independence," he stated.

According to the president, with the production of bio-diesel, alcohol and now also the start of H-Bio (mixture of vegetable oil to diesel), the country will become an energy power.

"I have been saying and repeating many times that Brazil in the 21st century will be the greatest energy power in the planet," he highlighted.
