Brazil’s Embraer Shows Off Its Latest Military Plane in Asia

Brazilian Embraer  will show the Super Tucano military trainer aircraft for the first time  on the Asian continent. The turboprop will be showcased at Asian  Aerospace 2006, one of the three biggest aviation trade events in the world.

The Asian Aerospace event opens on February. 21 at the Changi Exhibition  Center, in Singapore. Embraer’s Intelligence, Surveillance and  Reconnaissance (ISR) Systems will also be promoted at the show.

Embraer will also introduce Luiz Carlos Aguiar – the new Executive  Vice-President, Defense and Government Market – who will appear for the  first time at an air show after taking on the job in December. Aguiar previously served as Embraer’s chairman of the board.

The Super Tucano will take a tour of Asia and the Middle East after the  trade show, when a number of air forces will have the opportunity to  evaluate the airplane. The aircraft departed from Brazil in early  February and covered 11,500 nautical miles (21,298 km).

Embraer forecasts demand for 150 to 200 Super Tucanos in Asia and the  Middle East over the coming five years.
