Brazilian Minister of Finance, Antonio Palocci, leaves today for the Russian capital, Moscow, where he will participate on a meeting with the Ministers of Finance of the seven wealthiest countries in the world, plus Russia, which integrate the so-called G8.
The meeting will be on Saturday (11). Palocci comes back to Brasilia on Monday (13). The Ministry of Finance has not yet informed of other events on the Minister’s agenda.
Brazil was one of the countries invited to the last G8 reunion, this past July, in Scotland. On the occasion, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva made a speech at the group’s summit meeting.
The G8 meets yearly with the objective of discussing subjects related to economic and social development. Countries that are somehow associated to the main issues under discussion are usually invited to participate.
In 2005, the agenda included environmental issues and the hunger in the world, focusing specifically on Africa.
