Brazil’s BNDES Loans Over US$ 8 Billion

The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) spent US$ 8.4 billion in loans in the first semester of the year. The value is 10% superior to what was registered in the first semester last year and represents a record for the period.

According to information disclosed Thursday, July 7, by the bank, the performance was influenced mainly by financings to exports, which increased by 31% and reached US$ 2.47 billion, and by the credits given to the industrial sector, which increased by 39% to US$ 4.35 billion.

Within the industrial sector, almost half of the total, or US$ 2.05 billion, went to the transport material segment (aircrafts, automotive vehicles, vessels and railroad equipment), which was also the area that influenced the most the increase in exports credits.
