The president of the Inter-American Human Rights Commission and special reporter for the Organization of American States (OAS) on the rights of Afro-descendants, Clare Kamau Roberts, is meeting today in São Paulo, Brazil, with organizations and leaders representing the black community.
Roberts has been president of the OAS Human Rights Commission since February. Previous to that, he was Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs and solicitor-general of his country (Antigua and Barbuda).
He has also served as international legal advisor to various official and private organizations.
Robert is a member of the International Bar Association and the Inter-American Bar Association, institutions that promote information exchanges among lawyers and legal associations.
The OAS representative was one of the chief supporters of the Brazilian diplomatic initiative to draft an Inter-American Convention Against Racism and All Forms of Discrimination and Intolerance.
