The main trade fair in the tourism sector in the Middle East, the Arabian Travel Market, starts tomorrow, May 3, in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, and will count on the presence of four Brazilian companies.
This is the first time the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (CCAB) will participate in the show with the support from the Ministry of Tourism.
With the objective of attracting more Arab tourists to the country, the Brazilian stand will count on the participation of seven companies and entities.
As well as the CCAB and the Brazilian Tourism Institute (Embratur), the travel agencies Del Bianco Tour Operator and Intermundi Brazil Incoming, from Rio de Janeiro, Nascimento Turismo, from São Paulo and representatives from the hotel Ariaú Amazon Towers, from the northern Brazilian state of Amazonas, will participate at the exhibit. The Brazilian Airport Infrastructure Company (Infraero) is also participating.
“This is the first time we will participate in a trade fair in the Arab countries. We are going with the objective of prospecting the market and bring more tourists to Brazil,” stated the operations director at Del Bianco, Sidney Valadares Linhares.
According to him, the company already has contact with other tourism companies in the region, however, the number of Arabs coming to Brazil through the company is still small.
According to Linhares, the Arab population has the potential to make more journeys to Brazil.
“What is missing is a greater promotion of the travel operators in the region. We need to promote Brazil,” he said.
The director believes the matter of language is not a problem for the Arabs, since most of them speak English.
There are more than 50 countries participating at the fair. The exhibitors are tourism agencies, hotels, airlines, car rentals and other services. The Brazilian stand will have a 70 square meter area.
The CCAB will have a representative in the country, the operations coordinator at the entity, Rodrigo Solano, who will talk about the services of the Chamber to the interested companies.
“Our main objective is to strengthen the relations between Brazil and the Arab countries and identify companies that could be part of this approximation,” stated Solano.
The 11th edition of the Arabian Travel Market, which took place last year, counted on the participation of 1,515 exhibitors from 55 countries.
More than 17,000 visitors from 96 countries showed up at the fair, according to information from the exhibit’s official website.
The exhibitors occupied an area of 11,800 square meters, an increase in 31% in relation to the area occupied in 2003.
The 12th edition of the Arabian Travel Market goes until the 6th of May and will take place in the Dubai World Trade center.
