Last week Brazil exported US$ 1.726 billion and imported US$ 976 million, for a surplus of US$ 750 million for the week. The overall surplus so far this month comes to US$ 3.038 billion, and, for the year, it stands at US$ 11.357 billion.
April’s surplus, which represents 15 of the month’s 20 business days, is already greater than what was registered in January (US$ 2.183 billion) and February (US$ 2.787 billion) and will easily surpass last month’s total of US$ 3.349 billion, once this week’s exports and imports are computed.
This month’s result should be around US$ 4 billion. The overall surplus so far this year is 48.61% greater than the US$ 7.642 billion recorded over the same period in 2004.
