The war on hunger is one of the themes that will be discussed at the V World Social Forum (WSF), which will take place between January 26 and 31 in Porto Alegre, in southern Brazil.
On the 28th, for example, there will be a debate involving representatives of the UNESCO (United Nations Education, Science, and Culture Organization), the WHO (World Health Organization), and the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) to discuss the topic.
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will also take part in the WSF in a conference to discuss the war on global poverty.
The event is being organized by the Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAAP), a group created at the end of last year in Johannesburg (South Africa), with the participation of at least 80 institutions associated with social issues on various continents.
For the special presidential adviser for Social Mobilization Affairs of the Zero Hunger Program, Selvino Heck, the encounter will provide an opportunity to coordinate steps against hunger and poverty on a global scale.
