New York Summit Sells Brazil as Alternative IT Outsourcing to India

A line up of speakers with leading roles in government, industry, media and research will gather in New York City, on November 10, for the U.S.-Brazil IT BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) Summit, which will explore how Brazil is becoming an increasingly popular partner for U.S. investors and companies looking to expand overseas.

The Brazilian IT market, according to some experts, has become one of the strongest and most mature in the world, having evolved in size, coverage and complexity over the past four decades.

Keynote speakers include Douglas Smith, chief economist, Americas for Standard Chartered Bank; John D. Landers, president and chairman of the board of the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce; Antonio Gil, president of the Brazilian Association of Information Technology and Communication Companies (Brasscom); and Andre Limp, technology analyst for The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).

In addition, executives representing U.S. and Brazilian companies, including Dell, Motorola/C.E.S.A.R.; and Johnson and Johnson, will share insights into how they are leveraging Brazil's IT strengths to grow their businesses.

Supported by Apex-Brasil, the summit is organized by Brasscom in association with the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce of NY.

Participants will include CEOs, CIOs, investors from multinational firms and investment funds, market analysts, specialized consultants and representatives from universities and research and development centers.

Brasscom President  Gil, will provide an in-depth look at the factors behind the  growth of the IT sector in Brazil and the advantages Brazil offers U.S. companies as an outsourcing destination and IT growth center.

Compared to other common IT-BPO locations, such as India and China, Brazil offers distinct advantages, including advanced infrastructure, market maturity, political stability and highly qualified professionals.

Spencer Ante, Associate Editor from Business Week; John McCarthy, VP and Principal Analyst from Forrester Research and David Tapper, VP Outsourcing and Offshore Services from IDC will join representatives of global IT service providers ThinkBRQ, GFT Group, TIVIT and Stefanini in a panel discussion on current opportunities and challenges in nearshore outsourcing.
