In the accumulated result for the year so far, the trade surplus totals US$ 22.945 billion, as against US$ 37.346 billion in the same period of 2007. The figures were supplied by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
In the first week of the month, there was a trade deficit of US$ 435 million. In the accumulated for the month, exports total US$ 6.563 billion, and imports, US$ 6.051 billion, resulting in a surplus of US$ 512 million.
From January until the second week of December, Brazilian foreign sales total US$ 190.688 billion, and imports total US$ 167.743 billion.
