Portugal Group Invests US$ 43 Million in Brazil’s Northeast Resort

Vila Galé, a group from Portugal, has launched the construction of a five-star resort in the state of Ceará, in the Brazilian Northeast, with initial investment of 95 million Brazilian reais (US$ 43 million). The company's president, Jorge Rebelo de Almeida, said, in a press statement, that the group's objective is to inaugurate "on average one hotel a year."

In this respect, the company is planning projects for other Brazilian states, especially Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

Cumbuco Golf Resort should be built 41 kilometers (25 miles) away from Fortaleza and should occupy an area of 480 hectares, divided into Hotel Vila Galé, with 100,000 square meters (1,076,391 square feet), and a Golf course with 18 holes, according to the company.

The release of the enterprise, to be completed at the end of 2009, should take place at Vila Galé Hotel, located at Futuro Beach, in Fortaleza.

Vila Galé Cumbuco Hotel should have 462 apartments and chalets, four restaurants, five bars and a Satsanga SPA. It should also include a convention center equipped to receive great events.

Apart from that, the resort should also include condos with around 900 apartments whose main attraction is the possibility of counting on hotel services.

Vila Galé network plans to invite other hotel groups to install units at the resort and to create a tourist hub at the site.

Vila Galé group inaugurated operations in Brazil in 2001, with the inauguration of Hotel Vila Galé Fortaleza. In 2004, they launched Vila Galé Salvador and, in 2006, Vila Galé Marés Resort, in Guarajuba, Bahia. All of them in the Northeast of Brazil.
